Ģ����ý (Ģ����ý) will celebrate Founders’ Day on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Founders’ Day is dedicated to a celebration of the school’s history, character and values, as well as the accomplishments of those who have been a part of Ģ����ý. Scott Berry ‘83 and the Alumni Committee of the Board of Trustees will present the day’s festivities which will include, a school assembly honoring alumnae, Valerie Morgan Alston ‘69, a luncheon with the senior class, and an evening reception for trustees, faculty, administration and invited guests.

This year’s distinguished honoree, Valerie Morgan Alston ‘69, was Ģ����ý’ first African-American student. She was a natural student leader at Ģ����ý and later graduated from Wellesley College. Morgan Alston has a Master’s in Parent/Child Nursing and a Master’s in Nursing followed by a JD from Georgetown University Law Center. She was a Magistrate Judge in Denver for many years and is now Regional Manager in the Department of Health and Human Services in the Office for Civil Rights based in Chicago.

“Valerie is a model alum – her success is representative of the experiences our alumni have had in the world,” said Susan Robbins, Director of Alumni Relations. “She is living a purposeful life and is having an impact and influence on the people around her.”
