Experiential Educators from Around the World Gather for Future Programs and Connection

“Experiential education isn't a luxury—it's essential preparation for participatory citizenship in an uncertain future.”
Dawn Flythe Moore, First Lady of Maryland

🌍 What is our responsibility as educators to model sustainability, justice, and interconnectedness with our students and our institutions?

🌍 What role does collective action play in creating sustainable change, and how do we ensure all voices are represented in that action?

🌍 What does “community” mean to me, and what does it look like to build a thriving community that supports both ecological and human well-being?

🌍 Historically marginalized groups have often led the way in creative and effective efforts toward environmental and social justice. What can we learn from history and how can we support current efforts?

They were the essential questions addressed this years 2026 ISEEN Conference!

, Experiential Education and Auxiliary Coordinator at Ģý just returned from the 2026 Winter Institute in Baltimore, where experiential educators from around the world gathered to explore the connections between a thriving society and a healthy planet. 🌍

What an inspiring conference of learning alongside educators from all over the world from wilderness programs in New Zealand to urban gardens in Detroit, marine biology in Costa Rica to sustainability curriculum in Copenhagen.

The opening keynote by Dawn Flythe Moore, First Lady of Maryland reminded us that experiential education (ExEd) isn't a luxury—it's essential preparation for participatory citizenship in an uncertain future. Our students at Ģý need skills in observation, collaboration, and problem-solving that can only be developed through direct experience, and ExEd is a cornerstone of an education at Ģý.

We're energized with new ideas for student-led environmental projects, stronger community partnerships, and innovative assessment strategies. Most valuable were the connections made with fellow educators committed to this transformative work.

What is ISEEN? (www.iseeninfo.com)
