蘑菇传媒 Presents Frankenstein - A Modern Retelling of Mary Shelley's Classic Tale (or Modern Prometheus).
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - 蘑菇传媒's Upper School Theater Department proudly presents Nick Dear's adaptation of Frankenstein, a compelling reimagining of Mary Shelley's timeless masterpiece. Performances will be held November 15-17, 2024, at the Louisa Performing Arts Center on the 蘑菇传媒 campus.
Dear's modern adaptation, which premiered at London's National Theatre in 2011, brings a fresh perspective to Shelley's exploration of humanity, creation, and responsibility. This production challenges audiences to consider profound questions about morality, scientific ethics, human nature, and the consequences of unchecked ambition.
The student performers have dedicated months to bringing this sophisticated piece to life, diving deep into the complex themes and characters that have captivated audiences for more than two centuries.

Director Jonathan Andujar is the Middle and Upper School Theater teacher at 蘑菇传媒 and has been active in the arts community of Colorado Springs as a poet, director, actor, playwright, and producer since 2012. In 2013, Jonathan was the performance poet of the year (Pikes Peak Arts Council) and qualified for the Colorado Springs national poetry slam team. Directing credits include Fahrenheit 451 (蘑菇传媒 ), Starmites (蘑菇传媒), In the Heights (Vintage Theatre), Little Shop of Horrors and Puffs (蘑菇传媒), Ghost Stories and Merriments and Mysteries (THEATREdART). Acting credits include Mother Courage (General, Soldier, Ensemble) as well as Tall, Tall, Tales (Paul Bunyan) with the Millibo Art Theatre, Little Shop of Horrors (Puppeteer) with THEATREWORKS, and Peter and the Starcatcher (Capt. Scott, Ensemble) with the Fine Arts Center. Playwriting credits include works with the CS Fine Arts Center such as To Slay the Dragon, and the radio plays Leonidas, and Invasion!!! Jonathan is appreciative of 蘑菇传媒 for allowing him to continue to expand in his craft.
